Pictorial: ankle brace

Thankfully, I did not end up in yet another bulky, heavy CAM walker. They pull my hip out of place and are just a hassle. My orthopedist prescribed this lace-up style brace I can wear with sneakers. Provides a lot of support, like a splint. If you’re an athlete, you may recognize it. It’s time consuming to put on, but much more tolerable than other options!
First, loosen laces, slip foot in, tighten and tie laces. Then, two straps go under and across (reminds me of tying pointe shoe ribbons), then an elasticized band across the laces at the top to secure the brace and hold it in place.
Yes, these are typical routines in the life of someone with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome and degenerative joint disease!
